Dorsum To Top

Overall Description

Overview

The Nexus Mod Managing director (NMM) is a reckoner program that performs multiple, related tasks to back up the acquiring, archiving, activating and managing of Calculator Game Modification files (mods).

The NMM helps a user activate and manage their mods by providing an interface that performs all the tasks related to Mod management in a curtailed, intuitive interface. This is the face of NMM that most users see, day in and day out.

The NMM helps the user acquire mods by acting as a download manager for the Nexus Forums and File Pages(the Nexus).

The NMM helps a user annal mods by initializing and managing the user's storage sub-system on their computer with very niggling input by the user.

The NMM also provides an interface to sure external tools that are related to mod management such as load guild optimization tools, merge patch direction tools, script enhancement tools and others.

Aims

The aims of Nexus Modernistic Manager are as follows:

Ease of Use

We need the NMM to give our users a very intuitive and like shooting fish in a barrel to use slice of software. The user must exist able to install, run and apply the NMM with little to no support from the staff of Nexus Mods. This can be achieved by inviting users to a focus grouping and asking for their communication on the flow of the software - how practise they use the software? What are they using the most? What are their frustrations? etc.

Compatibility

NMM draws its value from the games information technology supports. The largest games on the site are Bethesda games so these will be supported on / prior to release. Other games that are either adamant to become large or very easy to integrate will need to starting time be approved by Robin due to the developer time which would be needed.

Stability

NMM needs to be able to work on a number of different platforms, from XP through to the latest Windows iteration, it needs to do this while remaining robust. In case of an error NMM needs to provide the user with enough information that a reason and fix can be found quickly once submitted to our developers.

Ability

NMM will give the user a huge corporeality of command over the setup of their game and mods. They will be able to control which mods are agile, what lodge they load in, the options that are selected within the scripted installers and create profiles that can quickly and easily be modified / switched and uploaded to the NexusMods.com site.

Advertisement-Gratis

While the Nexus will testify ads to not-premium / supporter members, the NMM will remain gratuitous of ad's. This will enable a make clean and articulate interface and ensure that nothing interrupts the user while they are creating their modern profile.

Earlier commencement installation

  • Every system is unlike. While the NMM team endeavor to account for everything, something may ascend or be different on your cease that isn't covered in this guide.

Clicking "Go on" volition complete the installation/update.

Scanning for games

image_5.jpg

The beginning time you lot install NMM, it will search your computer for instances of the games information technology manages. As each game is found, a green checkmark will appear. Clicking this volition ostend the directory location of the game. Clicking the cherry-red "x" will cease the search for whatsoever given game. You can echo this process of search for games at anytime in the NMM user interface especially afterwards you've installed another game. This procedure will exist described in ane of the following sections dealing with the NMM interface. When the search is complete and ran properly, NMM can exist opened past clicking the "OK" push button. Back To Tiptop

The User Interface

image_8.png

This is NMM. Everything we have done so far was in support of getting to this point. The very top line in the image is the championship line. On the left, see the version of NMM being ran and the game beingness managed, On the correct are the standard Windows interface icons.

Directly below the championship line, the Menu Bar contains a lot of functionality for managing Nexus Mod Manager.

The Launcher

From left to right, the first menu detail is the Game Launcher Bill of fare. I call attention to the down arrow that is office of the launcher. This expands the launcher window so that the user can run into all of the configured launchers present.

image_9.png

For more data concerning Configuring Launchers click (hither).

The Local Profile Managing director

To the right of the Launcher you will notice the Local Profile Director Menu. This is where the user creates new profiles and changes between profiles. Any profiles you lot take successfully downloaded from the Nexus also appear here. Over again, selecting the downward arrow will aggrandize the choices for interacting with profiles.

image_10.png

The active contour's proper name is displayed in grey in the menu bar. In one case the menu is opened, the user is presented with a list of choices for managing Both the current profile and for some management of other profiles. Additionally, this is where the user changes agile profiles by simply clicking them.. As you tin can see this menu is self explaining. If you lot choose New Profile eg. a context menu will open and you can requite your current profile whatsoever name. Information technology will and so be marked in gray as the current/present profile.

One step further to the correct is the Tools Carte.

image_11.png

Reset UI

Reset UI clears whatsoever changes you lot have made to the column widths in the chief window and sets them to their defaults.

Disable all agile mods

Disable all agile mods disables every modern in the profile. Does what it says. Useful in a new profile if y'all want to commencement over, but non from the beginning. It leaves the disabled mods in the contour.

Uninstall all active mods

Uninstall all agile mods is much like Disable all active mods, except more farthermost. Employ with caution. The main use for this control is if you wanted to start from scratch or create an empty profile for Beta testing. A discussion of caution. Before using this control, make a new profile. Name it equally you please. You can't easily undo this step, so make certain it is what you want.

Restore the backup profile

Restore the backup profile restores the profile from a salvage made in the Contour tab.

Change virtual folders

Change Virtual folders gets the user to this screen.

image_12.png

It displays your present Virtual Folder Setup and gives several options for making changes. NMM is very good at placing these files in the correct place and the user should commonly take the default values.

The box does a proficient job of explaining what y'all are doing and how you lot do information technology. The Multiple difficult drive features may be greyed out and unavailable when you lot first open this dialog box. In that case, you would demand to close NMM and relaunch using the Run equally Administrator prompt later on right clicking the NMM icon.

Reset annal invalidation

Reset Archive Invalidation sets the NMM Read just flag for NMM files and folders to off, and so that NMM can manage them.

This is the NMM Folder Menu. It is a direct link to your game installation, the Mods Folder for that game and the Install Info Folder for that game.

image_13.png

This carte du jour relieves you from having to search through drives and directory trees looking for your files associated with a item game.

Open game folder

Get to your game installation folder.

image_14.png

image_15.png

Open NMM mods binder

Become to the mods folder.

image_16.png

image_17.png

Open NMM install info folder

Go to the install info folder.

image_18.png

image_19.png

The first thing the user may find well-nigh the Settings menu is the lack of a downward pointer. That is because unlike the other menu items, Settings uses a dialog box for changing NMM settings. There are 4 tabs in the dialog box, beginning with a Full general tab as illustrated below.

image_20.png

The General Tab

The full general tab contains information about your file associations, a set of options you tin can alter at will and some path options for apply in running NMM. Really, you should probably leave these settings on default unless there is a reason to change them.

The Mod Options Tab

The Mod Options Tab is pretty straightforward. I opened the Format Box to illustrate the Options available. The Compression Box has a similar number of options.

image_21.png

The Download Options Tab

The download options tab is where y'all set your preferences for downloading files from the Nexus. This is also the location of the fix for users of Windows 8.10 with the Chrome Browser.

image_22.png

Download options for premium members

Premium members have several options (selectable servers, multithreaded downloads and selectable number - max. x - concurrent downloads) available to them that are not available to not-premium members.

image_23.png

image_24.png

Download options for non-premium members (none):

image_25.png

image_26.png

The game tab

This is referred to as the Game Tab because information technology is merely associated with the specific game you lot are managing. You lot may have seen some of these options before, only hither they all are in one place.

image_27.png

The mod directory and Install info are customizable for each game, all-time before installing mods.. The easiest way is to customize/create a path on the same HDD the corresponding game was installed. Go on in mind that there must exist enough space on the HDD for the "Virtual install" (the more mods and plugins, the more infinite, of grade.)

Custom launchers

Below your game directories, you see a box for configuring Custom launchers. You may remember custom launchers from the very commencement tab. This is where you build them. The Command line is where you lot select the game launcher yous will utilise for this Custom launcher. That sounds foreign, doesn't it? In this field, yous would navigate to your game folder, where all the optional files that tin can launch the game reside. This field must incorporate the entire path for the launcher. This listing includes the normal launcher, whatever launchers added by a tool, such as a script extender, and you lot can select the Game.exe file to launch the game.

The second field contains any arguments for the launcher to process when launching the game.

The Search Box

Search for installed mods:

In the UI Interface at that place is a search bar left to the tips icon (light bulb).

image_28.png

If yous await for a sure installed mod, simply dial in the mod'due south name or some other character related to the modernistic's name. NMM will immediately offering what was found or matched. That is quite a bit easier than scrolling through a boat load of mods.

image_29.png

That works in the category view equally well.

image_30.png

How to switch alphabetical or category views is described in the section Mods View, Tool six (Categories) and Tool seven (NMM views).

Simply punch in the modern's proper noun to get displayed what NMM establish.

image_31.png

That feature comes in handy if yous want to uninstall a modernistic.

image_32.png

This feature is comfortable as well, if you wait for a mod you lot uninstalled - not deleted completely - for the purpose to reinstall information technology. Such mods are still listed in the Mods tab and marked as uninstalled (cherry circumvolve before the modernistic'due south proper noun).

How to reinstall such mods with 2 clicks will exist described in the department six.2.half dozen.2 Uninstalling Mods.

Binder for supported tools:

NMM has the integrated feature for starting external applications like eg. sorting mods from the NMM user interface. Hover over the tool binder icon "Supported Tools" correct of the search bar or click the small arrow on the right of information technology.

image_33.png

The listing that is opened generally displays only the applications that back up the game you currently have selected with NMM. You can run a search now for the tool or tools you have installed on your system. To run the search (in this case: for Boodle) click the application you want to look for.

image_34.png

NMM volition open a new menu to select the folder where the .exe file of the application/tool you have installed on your system is located.

Note:The corresponding folder tin exist a default installation or a default download folder. It might as well be a folder you previously created or customized.

image_35.png

If you constitute the respective folder (in this instance: a customized folder for "Boodle", a plugin sorting or load lodge optimization tool) ostend with "OK"

image_36.png

If yous did all correctly NMM will integrate the link to the awarding launcher into the NMM folder Supported Tools.

image_37.png

Yous can start this tool/application at present from NMM also. Simply click it.

image_38.png

That is all for the folder Supported Tools.

Important notation:

Your plugins as displayed from pinnacle downward represent the "load social club" so to speak.

Plugins can be activated or deactivated without reinstalling or uninstalling them. Deactivating a plugin within a midgame is more often than not not recommended. Plugins that have a checkmark before the plugin'south proper name are agile. Those that are non checkmarked are not active. Launching the game with the game named launch button on the summit left mitt side will load all the checkmarked plugins and commencement the game'southward launcher.

Further on some tools that are displayed in the column on the leftmost.

image_51.png

These are

  • The up and downward arrows to move a highlighted plugin up or downwards.
  • The load lodge of plugins is quite essential for a stable or working game.
  • The load order determines the lodge the plugins are loaded when y'all start the game with NMM. This is important so far, equally some plugins require other plugins being active and loaded before. Apart from that, plugins that are loaded terminal or subsequently others will always have domination over those that are loaded before. Authors often give information on that in their mod clarification on what position to put a plugin. Information technology is highly recommended to follow their corresponding instructions.
